We’ve now called Great House Farm home for just over four months and what a place to live it is. We’ve grown quickly used to dramatic sunsets, waking up to birdsong and a diet of fresh air, locally sourced food and daily Vitamin D. It’s little wonder God has a thing for gardens…
Since moving in we’ve undertaken a huge amount of renovation work and have completely transformed nearly every room in both main houses. This was all only made possible by your prayers, financial support and the army of volunteer workers we’ve had come and pitch in. Thank you all so much.
We’ve got so much left on our building and DIY list but first up this year is to build Ruth and Andrew a kitchen and to finish off their bedroom so they can move out of one of our guest suites and into their gorgeous cottage bedroom. After that? Well, we think it’s about time we make some serious plans for that barn of ours…
Please pray for us as we continue with our fast-paced house renovations and work. We need the money, energy and resource to see it through!
Amazingly, even with a house in chaos we’ve already seen Coming Home take root at Great House Farm through daily hospitality, guests coming and staying, one family taking up residence as a period of respite after a tough season, worship events and much more. We’re delighted and so excited to see God at work here.
We moved into Great House Farm, in Monmouthshire, over August. God is good!
It was a year long battle to buy this house. We felt the land, the whole purchase, was hugely contested and it took a huge spiritual battle for us to take ownership of our new home. The way God wants you to go isn’t alway easy but he has been faithful, good and true to his promise every day of our long journey to become owners of our little corner of the country.
For anyone else stepping into a God-birthed dream we’d love to pray for you and support you, we know it can feel like pushing a closed door sometimes! Please do get in touch.
Since moving in we have had a veritable army of friends, family and generous volunteers giving up their time and resource to help us get started on the huge amount of work that needs doing at the farm. From sanding woodwork to steaming wallpaper and painting, we are so grateful for the kingdom army we’ve had standing with us.
There is still a huge amount to do but we know God is providing for every step of the way. From bringing us a talented, hardworking project manager to help us arrange and coordinate everything to friends who can tile and a kitchen company who can stick to our strict budget. The further into this faith journey we go the clearer we can see that God has worked out each and every detail. Here’s to our good God!
We have raised just over £50,000 of our £180,000 pledge target and continue to be blown away by people’s generosity. Not only are people giving money, but also their time and resource and we wouldn’t be here without it. From the mum who came and steamed wallpaper with her baby on one hip, to the mum of four giving up her precious school hours to slave away at our hallway and the many more incredible volunteers who’ve come – we feel so privileged to witness how faithfully God’s church can show up. We have to give a special thank you to our friends at Highworth Community Church who have done an incredible amount of work on the house despite being over an hour away. We are so grateful.
Now we’re settling into Great House Farm we hope to kick off some of our Coming Home events so keep an eye on your inbox. For now though do please follow our new Instagram account where you’ll see pictures of the house renovations, news of approaching events and find links to the articles and podcasts we will start to publish. We believe community happens around a dinner table, but we’re hoping a small online presence will mean more people know about that table!
This is where we’ll be sharing the details of The Coming Home Project’s journey. From the selling of our houses and buying of the project’s venue – to the fundraising’s progress and all of the happenings in between.
It’s important that you can connect with, and feel part of, The Coming Home Project; so do follow along as we journey this together.
